About Me

Nathan Lachenmyer is a Somerville-based artist and designer whose work focuses on putting creativity and awe at the forefront of interactive media.

He graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2012 with a Masters in Electrical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Physics, having completed a thesis on neural prosthetics. Since then, he has used his knowledge of hardware, software, and fabrication to create engaging digital media installations that combine artistic vision and cutting edge technology.

Nathan’s work includes exploring the use of computation as a medium for artistic expression, immersive digital media environments, and playful interactive pieces that encourage physical and social interactions. The common thread that connects all of his works is the heavy use of technology in their creation while making the technology invisible to participants, making the experiences seem almost magical.

He has worked with Cirque Du Soleil, the Nobel Peace Center, the Folger Shakespeare Library, the New York Historical Society, the Holocaust Museum, and arts festivals across the United States.

Nathan currently works both independently and as a creative technologist at Midnight Commercial.
